Its 1Kg per 1000 Gold.
It may be obvious to everyone else, but it took me until act 3 to find out.
My main char was overloaded when visiting the bank (and made lots of work with a lockpick).
This is not a problem (you have your camp box), but maybe some other people wonder why they carry so much weight.
