If any other AAA developer did this they would be review bombed into the ground and justly so. Larian however, is seen as the sympathetic under-dog sticking it to the "Establishment", and gets an undue pass.
This may sound controversial, but I think if a game has a AAA price, we should expect AAA quality, no matter the size of the developer studio. Our standards are already low enough that we excuse games released in very buggy states, but there is a difference between buggy and unplayable. Parts of the game have been unplayable for the last month.
At the very least we should have received some official statement explaining the state of things. "Sorry guys, we effed up! We are working on it day-and-night, and it will be fixed very soon." This is just basic courtesy. I'd love to know whether the massive lag is "just" a super complicated issue that needs several weeks to fix, or they are not taking it very seriously and are focused on crap like "bad kissing animations".
