I personally have no idea how to play as a rogue, so I respecced Astarion to a bard (him being his dramatic self) and that has worked great for me. Plus it’s a charisma class so a nice face of the party (on persuasion checks etc.).
And you get lots of fun dialogue options and you can play an instrument. And the high charisma gets you lower prices from traders.
HIGHLY recommend respeccing him to bard.
