I've blinded many an enemy and they still somehow seem to cast targeting spells. Perfect example just happand. My raven blinded a Death Shepard but he/she/it still somehow targeted a corpse to re-animate it.
Sorry if this is under the "wrong forum", I'm not sure where else it should go.
Maybe in this particular instance it's an "undead thing" and undead can't be blinded? Not sure bout that but there's been plenty of other enemies that certainly CAN be blinded, and I blind them, and they still target things. It's not a "wild swing in front of them". It's a targeting spell.

Blinded doesn't prevent targeting. It simply reduces the max range of targeting to 3m.

It should be called "Legally Blind," there might be less confusion laugh

3 meters is too long then. Should be 1m i.e. touch range.

I feel you. I figure it's 3m 'cause that is touch range with the longest melee weapons, or some of the larger shapeshifted characters. Owlbear's reach is probably ~3m.

What an insainly missused word. It should be called something else if the target is ACTUALLY blinded. Poor choice of words Larian.

Well. I agree that 'near sighted' would be a better descriptor, but... In the original saga - Blindness is one of, if not the most OP effect one can distribute across the realms, taking even the most brutal enemies out of the fight entirely with the lowest level spells. . It certainly could use something of a rebalance from that.

Fear my wrath, for it is great indeed.

It's not Larian's choice of words.

The game is based on Dungeons and Dragons. They use the Blindness condition (It also works differently there, it causes you to auto-fail any sight based checks. I.e. You're actually blind). Larian merely reworked it to make it functional for the game and its systems.

The thing that is not mentioned is the touch range. Where even if you're blind, you can stick your arm out and feel for a target and simply shoot a ranged weapon or sling a ranged spell at the thing you literally can just feel by holding your arm out even if you cannot see. That's what's being recreated with the limited range from BG3's Blindness effect (Extended somewhat to account for weapons with extra reach)
