Hello potential Gale experts!
I am on my 4th character, and at no point did I have any luck romancing Waterdeep's wayward Wizard.
-Half elf female bard, early Act 3
-Tief female sorc, late Act 2
-Gith female monk, mid Act 1
Is he a total racccist, or do I just not measure up to Mystra? Seriously, high reputation, fed him all the magic items.. and at no point was romance even hinted, till we stargaze in Act 2, and he just laments that "we are not close". Any idea why I'm getting friend zoned?

During Act 1, try spamming partial rests (Full rest, no supplies) until you see him conjuring an image of Mystra.

Should let you have a conversation where he offers to help you channel the weave. There's literally an option that talks about how "Intimate" it is, which should set you on his romance path.

Or he might compare you to his cat. In which there's dialogue options where you say you'd hope to be closer.

So long as you end up resting enough to provoke a conversation (And don't outright reject him) he should be open to a relationship.

There's also the Elminster encounter which you can advocate your desire for him too.

Weird.. yu are not able to Romance Hin..
In all my Games when i Bring Hin i Have to Refuse hin at least 3 times and avoid hin in the Game so i cannot have to deal with hin Hitting on me Non Stop till the end of the Game..
(and actually that was one of the Reasons i start to Hate hin and Never took hin out of the Stone since..haha)

I bet yu are doing something Really Wrong.. for hin to not Hit yu asap.. He is one of the easyest Romance options in the Game..
Yu just Have to Make hin Love yu and its pretty easy playing Good.

Be extremely Nice with Hin and Try to always Find the Options when yu get aproval from Hin..
The best way always is Playing a Good Guy..
By the Time yu get to Underdark in my Hero Games his aprovall is already Maxed out..
Like i told yu.. i have to actually avoid hin and Cut hin off evry time he hit me.. and really its a Lot.
so Much that Bother me at the Point when i never wanted hin in my camp again..
(Halsin has the Same Problem..)

I would Say that the Easyest to Romance are..
Gale, Halsin and Karlach
they 3 jump on yu really easy if yu are playing a Hero Game.

Im maybe Wrong becouse i Never Romanced Hin.. i never Bother to any other then Shadow or Minthi.. sorry. xD
But as far as i Know.. Yu actually can start his Romance in the Scene when she teach yu Magic..
(the scene at Camp when she is Making a Replica of Mistra..)
At Least it was that way i see a dude talking Here in the Forumm..
From there yu will start to Build his Romance

And the Party when yu Side with Grove its another Great Place to start the Romance with companions too.
(siding with Goblins its Only Good for you if yu want to Romance Astarion or Minthi.)
all the Rest dosent go that well if yu Chose The Goblins.

Like i Said Before.. Play as Good Guy and all of then will start to Jump on Yu when yu dont even want.. its kinda anoying sometimes..
Especially if yu are like me and dont Want anything from the Others besides the Only ones i Like to Romance.

See, I have the opposite problem, Gale hitting on me ASAP. Basically just keep him in your party and play as a mostly good character, and you’ll gain his approval quickly. He also has a soft spot for mischievous kids, so helping out the tiefling kids will gain approval from him.

Also take regular long rests. Like a LOT of them. (I take 4-5 before even getting to the grove, I do Withers first.) I wouldn’t say you should spam them, because there’s no point in long resting if nothing is coming up. But, do it very regularly and trust me, that little exclamation point will pop up over his head and he’ll want to show you how to cast magic and make out lol. It sounds like you missed his early act 1 romance scene (conjuring the Weave) and that’s why the rest of it never happened.

He usually opens up to you most strongly if you help people, especially children, in need. Protecting Sazza, Arabella or Mirkon (and I think a few other things) trigger small conversations with him in which he talks about his past. When, during the scene with the image of Mystra that has already been mentionend, you reach the portion of the spell where you are supposed to picture an interaction with him, pick one of the two obviously romantic ones. From what I have heard (I have either romanced him or played as him, so my experience of just being friends with him is none-existent), you close his romance route if you pick one of the friendly or hostile actions here. But others might disagree.

XD Gods above, all I can say is, Gale LOVES my characters (female high elf; female durge tiefling). I can do no wrong with him 8'D. I always romance Astarion though 8'D

The most important things to do for Gale are:
1. Give him all three pieces of the magical equipment he needs to consume. He's a hungry boy.
2. Let him die during battle. I know, you're like, WHY THE F would I let him die? At the end of Act 1, after you've defeated whichever side, speak to Gale at the celebration party. This should help the game understand, this is the character I want to romance.

Alternative things that raise his approval:
1. 2. Choosing good/kind dialogue options
3. Make sure you are long-resting and stopping to chat with the characters when you reach different locations. They often have dialogue or things they want to discuss. Sometimes you can receive approvals from conversations.
