If you are running Win 2K or XP you can also put in your OS CD and then from the "START" Button select "RUN" then type in either "Command" or "CMD". This will bring up a DOS style command window. With the OS CD (Win2K or XP) installed in the player type "sfc /? for a list of options or sfc /scannow which will scan for the files and replace those that need to be replaced". The downside of this is that you may have to go to the Windows Update page to bring the OS back up to the current revision with all Security Patches. System File Checker will scan the protected files for incorrect or corrupted versions of the OS Files only. But for more info try this link first;

You can also go to "www.technet.com" (Microsofts Technet Site and search for the error you are getting and sometimes come up with a fix that is easier. But as usual with messing with the OS, be sure of yourself and try all other possible avenues prior to messing with the OS. If you can replace the .DLL and it works then fine. But review the available documentation first prior to something that you cannot recover from or requires a full system reload including all third part apps (i.e. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" />). Use with "CAUTION" and save all important documents, saved games, etc to floppy, cd or some other backup material!
