When I try to download the patch I get a URLMON.DLL error. I spent about two hours with the compaq help desk trying to reslove it. No luck. Does anyone here have any ideas. I not that computer savvy, so please use layman's terms. I would really like ot get this patch. I'm not having any trouble with the game so far, but I like to have the latest.
Thanks

I assume you are asking if I have deleted anything or changed something? If this is your question, nothing. The only thing I can think of is my 2 year old has gotten into my office and turned the computer on. Don't know if he indaverently pushed some wrong buttons.

Do you get errors while trying to download something else, or only this patch?

Everyone gets a problem with a dll file sooner or later. That's why Jurak sugested that. If you uninstal something, sometimes a dll file you still need will get deleted too. That's what useally happens.
I don't recal the name of that dll though. I got different CD's with patch up files (windows files and other stuff) and I don't have it
What you could do is put your windows CD in the puter and do a search for it. If it's on the windows CD, reinstal it and reboot your puter. If it's not you can try searching the net for it. There used to be sites that host a lot of those different tiny files. I expect they're still around. I don't browse the net anymore like I used to years ago.

hello crimsonwarrior,
rather than sweating all over trying to dowload the missing dll, i suggest that u re-install windows. what u do is that u insert windows cd & run the setup. don't worry, it won't delete your programs or files. maybe it'll reset your windows settings like desktop & stuff but those are trivial so don't give up hope.
try this unless others can provide better alternatives.

well Like I said. Just get the one dll file needed from the CD. If you can't find it. Then reinstal windows.

that's right seth, but most files from the cd are stored in cab archives. if crimsonwarrior knows which cab file to find, then no worries. just let us know how u're doing, crimsonwarrior.
ack! sorry seth, i didn't read your previous post so i thought u haven't suggest re-installation.

If you are running Win 2K or XP you can also put in your OS CD and then from the "START" Button select "RUN" then type in either "Command" or "CMD". This will bring up a DOS style command window. With the OS CD (Win2K or XP) installed in the player type "sfc /? for a list of options or sfc /scannow which will scan for the files and replace those that need to be replaced". The downside of this is that you may have to go to the Windows Update page to bring the OS back up to the current revision with all Security Patches. System File Checker will scan the protected files for incorrect or corrupted versions of the OS Files only. But for more info try this link first; http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/...ng/productdoc/en/system_file_checker.aspYou can also go to "www.technet.com" (Microsofts Technet Site and search for the error you are getting and sometimes come up with a fix that is easier. But as usual with messing with the OS, be sure of yourself and try all other possible avenues prior to messing with the OS. If you can replace the .DLL and it works then fine. But review the available documentation first prior to something that you cannot recover from or requires a full system reload including all third part apps (i.e. ). Use with "CAUTION" and save all important documents, saved games, etc to floppy, cd or some other backup material! Bill........

Thanks for all the replies. I will have to work on this a bit. I'm a little nervous about doing this as I don't really know much about how computers work. I don't want to mess anything up. I am at work right now, so I'll have to try this when I get home this afternoon. Thanks again for all the replies.
