ok - so my computer is dying. i'm reformatting and doing a major overhaul, including a new video card (!!!) on saturday, and i was hoping someone could tell me if i can save all my files on a floppy. so that when i reinstall the game, i can get those old files and keep playing my game. this will work right??? please say it will work - i'm halfway through my second game and it's so much more fun this time...

Ahm, 5-7 MB is one save in the end area - zipped that is - I'm not sure, splitting?

An Aleroth save (finished the town) is 3.6 MB (errhm, zipped again)

Each game save is a folder in the '..\Divine Divinity\Run\savegames' folder.

In the unlikely event you do not already have a zip program, check out these freeware archive managers.

Depending on your ISP's limits, you may be able to email a couple of the zipped saves to yourself, and check your mail after the restore, but I would not count on this exclusively. If they offer web space, that would be more reliable for temporary storage.

Yeah, that's a good idea. Just go to geocities.com or angelfire.com, make an account, and store your saved games in there. They give you about 50 MB of storage space, I believe.

i tried that once a while ago with x-drive, it was no problem uploading anthing i wanted.....but when it came time to get it back......that was a different story altogether! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/suspicion.gif" alt="" />

for you who asked if i could put it on a cd - umm...i have 2 computers - one with a cd burner, one without. i'm currently playing games on the one without, as i didn't think i'd need it...yeah i'm stupid!!!

Or divide your Hard-drive in 2 parts.

if you want to backup more then the divinity saves ,(or more saves)
and you don't have a cd writer or zipdrive etc... you could also make a second PARTITION on your harddrive.
Put everything you want to backup in there . format th e other partition install windows back and your data will still be in the other partition!

note, , if you have an older motherboard, be careful to put in the latest videocards.
i read / heard about the change in voltage use with the newer videocards.
it had something to do with the voltage on your AGP slot...
so you better check first if it's compadible before you have a major meltdown on your hands <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

ok i found out how to majke an partition in winxp
just push -start-help- and type in "partition".
you find the solutions.
