This is a follow-up to my earlier post about extreme lag: https://forums.larian.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=924185#Post924185

I managed to get the game to load after waiting longer than the 10 minutes I'd been giving it (it wound up taking 16), and I immediately went to settings to turn everything down as much as possible, to try to minimize any future lag. While there, I noticed the default display adapter was listed as "Microsoft Basic Render Driver" instead of my actual graphics card, AMD Ryzen 5 5600G with Radeon Graphics. The game lag I'm experiencing makes perfect sense if the game isn't using the right graphics card, but I have no option to switch to the correct card in the options menu, and I don't know where else I could make that switch. Task Manager seems to display the correct graphics card being used so I'm not sure why the game isn't recognizing it.

The only other mention I saw of this issue was here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1086940/discussions/3/6045572169623628545/ Like this person, I checked that the graphics card shows up/is enabled in my Device Manager and that my drivers are up to date. My game ran smoothly prior to November when Patch #4 was released. How do I make sure Baldur's Gate 3 is reading my main graphics card correctly to run like it used to?

Are you sure you have the Radeon drivers installed?
The display in-game implies the basic Microsoft display drivers are the only one's installed.

Task manager is only listing the name of the processor itself, which is 'AMD Ryzen 5 5600G with Radeon Graphics'. It's not showing the iGPU at all which further implies you likely don't have AMD's graphics drivers installed, if you had them installed it should show AMD Radeon Graphics on the left side.

What does it show up as in Device Manager under Display Adapters?

The drivers for the iGPU are here.
I presume you are using the integrated GPU on the processor, or do you have a discrete graphics card installed?

I ended up wiping my graphics drivers using DDU (https://www.guru3d.com/download/display-driver-uninstaller-download/) and doing a clean install of the newest driver directly from AMD's website, rather than installing automatic driver updates through Windows. That appears to have fixed the problem, as BG3 now recognizes my correct display adapter just like my other Steam games do and runs smoothly as a result.
