I’m not sure about that game yet. The trailer that really blew me away was Monster Hunter Wild. That looked amazing. I’ve tried and never have been able to get into that series though.

Seriously, Alan Wake 2 for Best Narrative? That should have gone to Cyberpunk 2077.

Ixal was talking about BG3, because they for whatever reason feel the need to constantly remind the maybe 2 dozen people on this forum that they did not like the game.

I think Neil definitely deserved best performance. Frankly, most of the main cast could justify winning that one. Everything else though, I would say this game did not deserve them. I'm happy for Larian because I fully believe that they worked hard on this game and gave it their all, it's just that their all is... frustratingly middling.

Then again, sounds pretty much like Mass Effect 2.0, in which case I'm actually wondering why those guys left Bioware to begin with. Not merely in terms of the kind of game they are making as such -- but also but by directly competing with their former peers. I mean, this is the lead designer of Baldur's Gate setting up a new company under the wings of Wizards Of The Coast and he's straight back to where he left at his former employer.

Then again, BG3 had already been handed to Larian, so... laugh

With Matthew McConaughey!

As a former Austinite I cannot overstate how awesome a person McConaughey is and how shocked I was that he was going to lend his plethora of talents to this enterprise. I am more excited about Exodus than ME4.

Wasn't meant to say whether that is good or bad. However, it doesn't look like Larian are going to get direct competition now that they're equally in the triple-A field. Unless of course their next game/s are going to be Mass Effect-Likes as well.

In a sense, BG3 exists BECAUSE Bioware have moved into the Mass Effect direction. After all, Larian too were initially crowdfunded by players who yearned for games more similar to BG, which had pretty much disappeared from the market by the turn of the 2010s almost entirelly... When the Exodus trailer came on, I can't help but think that this prompted another big grin on Vincke's face. https://www.wired.com/2009/07/bioware-muzyka/

I wrote a long rant about why I dont care about awards, but maybe thats superflous.

Anyway congrats, even if it dont think it actually means anything.

And I would be interested in a remake of the Mass Effect triology IF:

- Controls stay consistent between games (and are good on PC)

- Setting stays consistent (for example you can explore planets like in the first game, in all three games)

- The game isnt made more action oriented; if at all, more roleplaying oriented

- The known logical bumps in the original story are cleaned up

- Its carefully remade in regards to new quests, new characters, etc, and not just a Nostalgia cash in

In short, since ME is owned by EA: yeah, fat chance.

Congratulations, well deserved.
I do wonder about the future because if anything not permitted to put on display in the Western world, it is creativity. That is exactly what Larian did and I believe that was the appeal why so many bought the game, weather aware or not.
So, I believe there will be a reckoning and keeping Larian in priva

That does not match the perception I have of cultural works of the past years (and also not before). Creativity is financially risky, but it is very much permitted to put on display. Recently there even was a huge exhibition of the indie webcomic Pepper & Carrot in France — which is one of the most beautiful creative works of the past decade, and far outside the usual commercial sphere.
