Larian Studios Forums Baldur's Gate III Baldur's Gate III - Technical & Gameplay Problems Shard To Open Barrier In Creche Disappeared And Now I Can't Complete The Quest

Honour Mode, so I can't reload.

I went to the Captain's Quarters, had Astarion steal the shard off her. I think my DUrge was accused of stealing it first but as she wasn't the one who stole it, nothing happened. So I thought I'd be clever and quickly put the shard into the slot before the real thief got caught. Astarion got confronted next and a fight broke out, but the barrier didn't drop and the shard is nowhere to be seen. So I can't proceed with the quest or get the Blood of Lathander. There doesn't seem to be anything I can do to get past the barrier. I will just have to suck it up it seems. I was really ready for the inquisitor fight too. I was thinking about how I was going to approach him all night too. How anti-climatic and frustrating. If it wasn't on Honour Mode I would just reload but that's not an option.

I was reading about this bug online and you're definitely not alone in this. I'd suggest submitting a bug report to Larian. It's been bugged (pickpocketing, getting caught, gem disappearing) for several months. I don't know if they should have released Honour mode when the game is still so buggy.

Hopefully other folks can chime in if they've found a solution to this.

Edit: Would long resting help? Or did the shard drop on the floor somewhere?

I will report the bug and send them the save file but I ended up moving onto Moonrise because the Creche was the last thing I had to do before moving on. I can't complete Lae'zel's quest either, because of course the next part of it is to see the Inquisitor. I long rested after, I checked the ground. I scoured the whole room, left, rested, went back and the barrier was still up. Hopefully they'll be able to see something in the save file. If anything, they'll see those two quests still open/not updated in my journal with finding the Blood of Lathander and Lae'zel wanting to speak to the Inquisitor.

But for me i did not ever Try and i will not Try untill this game its running at least 89% perfect.. no Joke.
I have played more then 1400 and Never just Never Had 1 Game when i never found at least one 1 game blocker or Bug that i Had to Reload to a older Save to keep Playing.

Thats why i will not even waste my time with this new Single Save stuff. does not Worth.. trust me.

Try make a Custom Game with Evrything Turn OFF and Remove the Bonus from evrything
Im doing this to have a Challenge, i just dont turn on Single Save..
Becouse the game cant Handle this yeat..

(BTW this game has a Weird Bug that couses Memory Leak like Crazy.. its when yu Relaod a Game Since i Have Afterburner/Rivaturner i can see evrything going on in the PC while Playing.. and i always notice this, when yu Reload the Game he start to Double the amount of Memory usage in places when i should not.. sometime yu can even run out of Memory becouse of this Bug if yu reload too much.)

The only way to avoid this Weird memory leak bug its to Go off the Game and Open it again.
Then the memory usage will go back to Normal most of times.

It is pretty nerve wracking with having to worry about bugs breaking your game on top of staying alive. I very well might have died in the Inquisitor fight but I'll never know now. I filed a bug report but that won't help me or anyone else who has this bug right now. I really dislike the one save file system and wish there was some other way to handle Honour Mode.
