As I understand it, the game uses a d4 to determine initiative. While I understand why the change was made to make turn order more consistent, I feel like choosing a d4 was rather extreme as it unduly punishes certain classes. Take clerics for example. Pretty much all cleric weapons are strength-based, they then have to worry about their wisdom and constitution on top of that. Under the current system, it also forces them to care equally about dex, making them consider 4 abilities where as most other classes only have to focus on 2 or 3. As it is now, I think it continues to push the simple 'heal-bot' idea of cleric as they must often forgo using part of their kit, most likely their melee weapons, under this current system making them less likely to land hits in combat and most players wanting to save spell slots for healing or support spells instead of damage spells.

ike karmic dice, I believe an option to choose between the current d4 system and say a d10 system would be much appreciated by the community at large and a d10 would help keep most of the consistency while allowing classes that currently have to sacrifice either a feat or combat ability a chance to not always be last in the turn order as it currently plays out.

If you are on PC there is a mod, True Initiative, that converts to the tabletop standard d20. But of no help to consoles.

Since d4 makes the game a bit easier (you are more likely to be able to select your character order), your suggestion could fit in nicely in the Custom Difficulty mode.

I'm using this mod and it's *way* cooler that way. You don't have all your party at the ready all the time. There's a chance your rogue will go last, and so on.

Fear my wrath, for it is great indeed.
