I just reinstalled the game but when I got to play it it asks for the game cd. What really frustrates me is that the game cd is most certainly in the cd rom.

uninstall
shutdown
restart
reinstall/anti-virus off

Have you installed the latest patch? Did you have any problems before with the unpatched or patched version? Various copy protection types and versions can conflict with some drives. If the game version or optical drive have not changed, this is probably not the problem.

Every time I install it I have it patched yes. And it worked once before. The only problem I had before was one of the compressed files wouldn't decompress. But I was able to do that manually before.

clean the disc and try again.... maybe,

some disc drives <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" /> suck [nocando]

and if not do the manuel thing again <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif" alt="" />

So what is different this time, that you did not need to manually extract those files? Different system or drive? Different software? (auto-play extender crapware installed by sound card and CD-RW drive software, etc. that could be interfering with the optical drive) Maybe there is still a problem with those files, but no error is coming up now?

Well, I still need to manually install to have any of the classes, but so far I've alternated between minimal install and manual. The problem is when my computer tries to extract from the second disc. I have the files needed burned onto another cd in case I need them though.

um that don't usually work i think you need the original discs for it to install properly with no errors....... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif" alt="" />

Jurak: the extracted files on CD are for the manual install; Sarkile's system has a problem with the wizm.rar file on the second CD.

With no changes though, I don't know why the game would start complaining about the play CD.

You have good memories. Well, this last install it worked. Not sure if I just had to keep installing it 13 times or not, but it works and I'm happy.
