Every time I attempt to continue my splitscreen co-op game or add in the second player, the game freezes and crashes. I have sent dozens of error reports to PSN (error code CE-108255-1).

I was able to play the full game all the way through back when it first released. When I attempted a second playthrough a month later, the same issue occurred and the game became unplayable. I started yet another playthrough and got about 10 hours in before experiencing the same error.

I have never experienced this with any other PS5 game. I have reinstalled the game numerous times, gone offline, deactivated HDR, everything short of resetting the system to get this game to work. I haven't heard any news about a fix for this.

I reached out to Larian a few days ago regarding the issue but I have not heard back yet. As of today, BG3 is the only title that I have played on PS5 that is completely broken.

The same is happening with us. We've been playing the game in co-op since the beginning and overcoming all challenges. Despite many improvements, the game is now crashing more frequently than ever. We never had issues with crashes before. It has never been as bad as it is now. I have the impression that it tends to happen, especially when both players are in the menu simultaneously.

The only thing that seems to work right now is loading the game as a single player, teleporting to another area, saving, reloading, and then having the second player join.

Guys mybe I can help you but I need some info pictures of the graphical settings options that you have available.
I really don't know anything about ps5. But I started to understand how the game can be improved in settings.

Having the same experience here. The last couple weeks the game has become more and more unstable. Frequent crashing on local co-op when doing things like sorting inventory while other player is at a trader, opening inventory while one player is leveling up. Or during saving/loading. Our original campaign cannot be played after 59 hours because it crashes every time we try to save it. Fiance is crushed by this.

Love the game and obviously not sure what happened to make it so unstable. Just makes us sad.

We have the same problem, after patch 1.005.005 the game always crashes when the second player joins. Sad because we were looking forward to playing a lot together over the holidays, and now we can't.

This works for a while, yestarday start to crash again. It's always in the same way: if you join, it crash.
I try to turn off the wifi, but no. (Really?? From september you had this problems with playstation network? a multiplayer game that cannot be played in multiplayer? never heard something like that.)
I try to warp in a area with no NPC, save e reload the game, try to join, but no.
I try to camp, then join and for this is ok. But when I go out from the camp, guess what? crash.

I bought this game because of the local multiplayer. But in this moment isn't unplayable. I would think ten thousand times If I knew there was this problems on ps5 and bought something else that works.


You can't setting anything on PS5, it's not a computer. You can just set Performance and color tone. That's it.


So, if anyone have any idea on how to play in multi, be my guest. I wish to play in multi in this holidays, but the game says a big NOPE.

PS5 split screen is impossible to play with these bugs. Almost every time both players open skills wheel, inventory, level up or anything it crashes and game closes. Solo on PS5 is ok experience but split screen might as well not exist. Glitchy, buggy, psn names cover map, no forced merge of screen, could as well not release it all together since it's so half assed compared to DOS 1 and 2. Every new patch/fix adds more problems as well.

Today is totally IMPOSSIBLE to play, and we don't know why. Yesterday we played for almost all the afternoon. Now, we load the game, repeat the "steps" that should permit to join in local..but.. nothing works. We try for an half hour and sent almost 10 reports.

This was my xmas gift. I want a refund now, 80€ for a game that don't allow to play (and it's not a mod, is a native function).

Same here. Since some days. Don’t know it’s from the patches or that we are in act 3.
So annoying! So a good game and so many problems…

No, it started in act 1 for me.
I bought the game some weeks ago, nearly 15th December. Just some days before the patch that broke everything.

Honestly this is sad I hoped there is a room for setting options.
But I think it have to do with the basic Vulcan usage.
In the last few weeks I am trying to get an optimal setting for the game. Because the textures are not loading sometimes and almost nothing is helping they messed up something after patch 3 and I cannot figure it out. Also internet and reddit is cluless.
The game runs a little bit better on Vulcan at least with this texture loading issue. But it starts to crash in split screen.
So I don't know what to do here.
If I use the basic settings for SteamDeck and I don't try to manual use the directx version. The game sometimes shut down the SteamDeck too.

And its absolutely broken on Geforce now as well.

I really hope they will figure it out what went wrong.

Come on, Larian! Please pay more attention to players in BG3's co-op mode. I still feel like we are being neglected. Our game regularly crashes, and I don't know how many bug reports we've already submitted. It's not just related to Act 3; we've had this issue in Act 1 as well. Our game consistently crashes when both players are in any menu, whether it's leveling up, managing inventory, trading, or dealing with skills... But yes, I understand the Xbox problem is significant. However, when will the PS5 version run as it should? We've been waiting for five months!!!

Lost hope atm, this takes ages, broken for month. They clearly don't care about niche local coop community. Could do many fixes ages ago. Merged screen, option to turn off psn names on mini map. Those recent crashes are when second player joins game or whenever both players enter any menu at once should be fixed instantly not month and still nothing. I can reproduce his bug in 1second, press r1 on both pad while in local coop mode and game crashes xD. Broken unplayable local coop for almost 40days, GOTY indeed.

Aaand here we go again. After hours of playin last week, this evening we start to play. At least, we try. For 3 times. Change the location, save and reload. Nothing.

Aaand.. so for today, we play tomorrow.

I did some quick testing on PS5 and it seems local coop crashing might be fixed or it's more rare now, need more testing and other people comments. When both players entered many various menus like radial wheel, inventory etc game crashed. Could load any save file and press R1 at same time on both pads and poof game would always crash. Tried this after hotfix and can't reproduce crash now.

For those you who are playing on the PS5, be warned that if you are a player who grabs every item, invests roughly 150 hours or more in the game, or has a significant amount of saves, you will probably encounter the error code 544. This error will pop up as your are playing and thus you can no longer play on the PS5. It also prevents you from saving the game, and can corrupt other earlier save files. This occurs once you get to Act 3. I figured I'd post a warning in this thread since the PS5 was mentioned. Larian is not acknowledging, nor working on a solution for it either.
