And it's not just like that with Mintara/Halsin, in some other options the "evil choice" also turns out to be much better than the "good" one.

He only tells you he'll force you to become a mind flayer if he has to, because you are jeopardising the quest to kill the main enemy. Then when you mock him or threaten him he ends the conversation and kicks you out of the Prism.


You can stay neutral in the grove conflict by skipping the fight and going to the Mountain Pass area or knock her out while she's temporarily hostile to end up with her as your companion. There is a thread here in the story & character discussion that tells you exactly how the knockout method should be done.

You cant reliably get rid of Halsin though, sure Orin can take care of him, but Minthy and Halsin will live in one tent(horrible fate for her if you ask me) and Halsin will have more then enough time to "confess" his feelings and do his stuff even at 0 approval. Yes sure you can try to rush the lower city and sewers, but it ruins whole rp aspect imo.

Aren't Mintara and Halsin mutually exclusive companions? There won't be a bug?

Idk, in my last multiplayer run he confessed his "love" to all 3 players(2 of them were at 0 approval) and Minthara was chilling in Halsin's tent. If you recruit her this way, you will have both Halsin and Minthy.

Halsin: "I've always loved you since the moment I layed my eyes on you"
Tav1: "No thanks"

1 minute later

Halsin: "I've always loved you since the mome-"
Tav2: "Ew no"

1 minute later

Halsin: "I've alwa-
Tav3: "Dude, I saw you "confessing" a moment ago"
Halsin: "You mean if I came to you first you would hav-"
Tav3: "Not a chance"

To me it happened right after I reached exceptional approval so I thought that it was a requirement for him to genuinely like you. You learn something new about the game all the time, lol.

Literally every playthrough he confessed at 0 approval to my Tav. He also confesses his love to all Tav's and doesn't care about approval(I've had 3 multiplayer playthroughs and every single one he did it to all Tav's regardless of approval, I think he even did it to -5 approval once).

Someone mentioned, that he had a midlife crisis. 0 is at the middle of the approval bar after all. It seems fitting. ^^

I think it's either approval or time situation triggered. My current Halsin who just hung around in camp forever made his advances the first night we spend in Baldur's Gate proper, the one time I had him in the group for a bit, he found the Rivington air riveting enough to make his urges known.

I checked my savegame and for me it always happens during the 2nd long rest in act 3, doesn't matter if it's Rivington or Lower City.

Your picture section is fine summary on what is wrong with those interactions(majority) and why many interpret it this way. Could've added some dialogue interactions from "poly" proposal from Halsin.

Not at all this is Not mentally ill neither is normal. The bear(beastility). Orgy, 4, 5 some. Well yes, of course this Halsin interaction ruins her for no reason at all while having no impact on the game/story at all(which is way we call it OOC).

Your picture with early banter in act1(when you don't have any relationship) is actually foreshadowing of what she becomes in act3 and there she has no idea of who she is or what she wants. It actually fits well with DJ SH story later on too, Selunite breaks all of this though(you could even argue that if you are romancing her - she throws the spear away for the sake of love, because she knows that she isn't allowed to have it as Sharran). "Last night was perfect" pic is out of context too.
