I still remember I successfully killed the commander the very first time I started this game - this is hard to forget, as there is an weirdly named achievement for killing that commander, called "Devils in the Details" - I got the achievement when I had barely started playing BG3.

I remember I needed time to kill him and other enemies.
It took time to
. fight 2 batches of enemies
. kill the fighting duo (both of them - one after the other)
. check out a number of items and bodies lying around,
. hoping to find something that could help me kill.
Even 15 rounds were not enough!
but I understood I had to leave.
I think a 15-round timer is a perfect compromise for a first-time player or any newbie like I was.

Later, on Tactician mode, I learned the hard way that I have and can only have 6 rounds to get everything done (listed below), otherwise any of my companions may have to die - for role-playing, all my companions must not die.
. steal the great sword,
. loot the void bulbs,
. check out every corpse,
. pick the oil tanks,
. deal the killing blow to the illithid that would later offer to kiss you in order to heal itself on your cold body


My opinion is:
. let the player decide when to leave.
. the current 15 round timer is perfect for players of all experience levels.

I think they give us a lot of turns to encourage us to fight Commander Zhalk. Since if it was like 5 turns nobody would do it. But they also give us a soft time limit in a sense with how his backup eventually arrives.

In all seriousness it's not possible to kill the cambions w/o exploiting the hell out of the game or savescum every attack roll.
I dont consider those yourtube videos legit. Moving 4 barrels w/o using action prebuff your caracters pre dash cast jump before entering the cutsceen. There are all exploiting the hell out of the game.
For example I remember divinity you could go to the door and steal the death barrels and kill a lot of enemys with it. Even the end game bosses. But eventually at some pont they patched it out . Moving objects was not free anymore. Now it cost actually a lot of action ponts. And the barrels now are immossible to take from the ship.

I expect that at some pont they will realize this isn't good and patches will fix this. So there is no pont to change the timer.
This is actually the same as to kill knock out Raphael in act 1.

I understand the frustration. But the focus is on a wrong topic.
Things that is need to happen first is to limit to an actual action to move objects. Also to limit the amount to one / action. Then lont of the things we be balanced out.

I understand that realizm makes no sense in this game. But they put so much effort to study the weight of the objects. And a 50 kg women can take out 4 barriers of gunpowder that is 40kg / piece in less then 0 seconds and movie it as much as she wants in 0 seconds. But to drink a potion it takes 1 bonus action. They literally killed the game with this huge game breaking exploit. What isn't fixed till now.
