I imagine Yurgir is the one who broke through the wall in grymforge, which is seen in the scene with stonemason Kith.

That scene left me expecting something larger than Yurgir.

I would also add that Yurgir and the meregons should be a lot more powerful considering they took out the entirety of Grymforge when they attacked. This was the army that defeated Ketheric Thorm. Even if this is the remnants of that army, it leaves me thinking Ketheric's forces must have been pretty weak.

Pretty sure it wasn't Yurgir.

Dwarf dude gives you some Infernal Alloy he found. Suggesting what came through Grymforge was one of Zariel's infernal machines. Yurgir is not associated with Zariel (He mentions he can smell the stench of her infernal machines if you bring Karlach along)

The meregon masks are everywhere. It even talks about how the meregon's need a commander to fight, questioning where the commander is. Which happens to be Yurgir.

Writing can be found in Grymforge talking about the infernal force that attacked. Describing Yurgir and the meregons.

Not to mention the mason in Reithwin is the reason they attacked ketheric's forces, due to the deal made. This can be found in the books in Reithwin as well as seen with the mason in the House of Hope.

It's also evident in the task that Yurgir has in the Gauntlet of Shar.

Yurgir and his meregons were 100% responsible for what happened in Grymforge.

I wonder if this counts as bodyshaming for orthons! But yes, I have also thought that he is on the small side for the havoc he caused on the other hand, he really likes explosives.

Are meregons exclusively associated with Yurgir? Or could there be meregons following some other (bigger) commander?

As JandK said, if you piece together all the clues and chat with everyone around, it is pretty much confirmed, that it's all Yurgir's doing. He got subcontracted to destroy the temple/forge/gauntlet.

Maybe the meregon masks were dropped in an attempt to frame Yurgir. think

Orthons are basically the Boba Fetts of D&D. They bring explosives and what have you. Good enough reason why those walls are blasted, anyway.

Fear my wrath, for it is great indeed.
