This is very funny, some people argue that he does have a lot of content and then some he say doesn't even have a proper quest. ^^ Though it isn't as contradictory as it sounds at first.

At least I am glad this change is only temporary. I hope it is.

I mean, on one hand he is tied to one of the possible game ending, but if you don't go for the nuclear option the chat with Mystra is the last event you have with him until the very end. At least to me his path feels lacking.

Ah I think it’s just that Act 3 is underdeveloped and underwhelming in many areas. Companion stuff kind of fizzles out except for fairly bare bones main quests/boss dungeons.

I don't disagree with you. On the one hand, he does have a lot of content because he is Mr. Exposition, he explains things to you and has a lot of personal dialogue. On the other hand his quest is probably just as bare bones as Karlach's, maybe even more because he doesn't have a proper end sequence. He has the audience with Mystra which I love in his Origin but which is just weird, when he is your companion. Your aren't supposed to see it but you kind of still do and it doesn't end in a proper dramatic moment for him that concludes his quest. His moment at the dock is also very brief. So before the epilogues were added, he didn't have a ending to his story at all. He is still my favourite character and gets all the yummy magical items he wants. =)

Indeed, meanwhile fixing shit that has been bugged and broken for months hasn't been high on their list apparently.

1. Durge can't even talk to Balthazar, it's been going on for months now. The cutscene just abruptly ends after Balthazar's first sentence and the only way to talk to him and possibly attack him via dialogue is using other companions for that OR using disguise self.

2. Then there is the Shadowfell bug when you are playing as a cleric of Selune and use the: spare Nightsong special Selunite option. Shadowheart just summons the spear and charges Ailyn anyway. She does that on both Selunite options btw, when she's only clearly supposed to do it only on one of 'em. But nope, let's not fix that, instead let's make it so Gale doesn't need to satisfy his munchies anymore... even though that entirely breaks his story arc...

Also, I reported both of the mentioned bugs... hmmm, 3 months ago? So yeah, nice priorities there!

Well it was an act 1 bug. So priority.
Also we have now honor mode so this can be painfull. If someone don't have any magic item early. Or he or she have it in the chest. So I think it was reasonable change.
But i whould point out that in the Shar temple the full party still can fall down. W/o any reason wipeing the honor run.

Just because I forgot to reply to this before: The Gloves of Power don't require the brand, it's just flavour text in case of this item. Just put them on and get your sleight of hand bonus & all.

You get the sleight of hand bonus without the brand.

But the possible bane effect only happens if you have the brand.
