Coming back to this thread after a few months, now- I've found it that in Early access and other patches I've been originally really opposed to certain changes but then grown used to them.
Not the case for this one. I still think it's abysmally bad, focuses on the wrong things that originally made the scene amazing and tugged on your heartstrings (well, not only doesn't it focus on it, but actively detracts from it and cheapens the whole thing), and beats you over the head with something that I think most are able to figure out about what it means for him in the long run, no distracting happy music in an moment of emotional unloading needed. I'm sorry if it's harsh, but I feel very strongly about it. It really becomes hard to feel the moment and focus with the new music.
I'm not going to say the scene is unwatchable now or anything, but it's definitely a much inferior experience than it used to be. I still can't wrap my head around an unnecessary change that is worse than the previous one, especially for a scene that was critically acclaimed by basically everyone and arguably helped get awards.
Imagine changing, say, Raphael's Final Act to a version where Raphael sounds cartoonishly evil instead so it's clear that um... he's evil, I guess, but the result is it just sounds worse altogether and distracts you from the moment. That's this change to me.
As others have said, since it's not the actual final moment of his quest, and that honor goes to the morning after, where he wraps a bow around it, and is actually sounding pretty (cartoonishly so IMO) hopeful himself- that's where the music would suit the moment much better.
