A tip for your next run about the hellrider gloves
If you let Aradin or you knock out zevlor and then watch his group leave, you can loot the gloves off him consequence free and he won't even acknowledge they are missing when he wakes up.
As for the whole massacre situation.... yeah you may be missing out on some cool stuff but at the end of the day you're bound to find even more cooler stuff and depending on your classes you may not even need the rewards lost in this massacre.
If it makes you feel better, tensions were already running very high at the grove to the point of boiling over, so any misstep or small crime seen by the druids would be the straw that broke the camels back, yes even stealing from the bird.
