Was Durge tadpoled by Orin when she was slicing around in Durge’s brain? Yes, that was Orin's true intention behind the attack.
Without going into too much detail here; she saw killing as an unholy artform where the more meaningful, graceful and beautiful the murder, the more Father would love her.
Durge however was the complete opposite. Brutishly ungraceful and mindlessly murdering, quantity over quality because corpses were its plaything. She saw this as an insult to Father due to mindlessly offered pathetical offerings without any meaning, so she intentionally brutalized Dark Urge with the intention of tadpoling it to make it as mindless as its offerings.
Crippled Durge eventually stumbled upon Kressa Bonedaughter underneath Moonrise while its brain was leaking from the attack, but to her surprise Durge was resisting the illithid influence. So she took it in, became obsessed with studying it... which is why Durge has recollections of all the horrific experimentations done upon it which can be experienced as early as the Nautiloid (talk to the two enthralled people in the center chamber).
Her experimentations are medically documented in notes underneath Moonrise, but it was Baltazar who eventually forced her to get rid of Durge because she became too obsessed with it. Baltazar's book in his room mentions more about her overwhelming obsessions with Durge.
