Yeah, I think the general consensus is that it's basically the Globe of I-winability, because there is no way, short of the AI pushing you out of the zone, to kill you, and some bosses, e.g. Ansur, kinda can't.
For the AI to abuse it, I don't think they're programmed to do so either. E.g. I accidently clipped Ansur inside a globe and the next turn he just took off.

I havn't heard of Chain Lightning nor Disintegrate affecting the barrier within BG3's rules. Not sure what raw DnD says but I read that Dispel Magic can remove the barrier.

Earlier I made a suggestion for Raphael's fight to include a Legendary Action that'd delete the Globe and sounds like Dispel Magic would work well for that (Which could be ported to other Act 3 bosses).
Although, thats for Honour where, generally, people who can run it, don't really need the Globe to beat most of the boss fights and then if you make an optional boss too hard, people might just ignore them.

In saying that tho, Ansur's fight feels like it's designed to abuse the Globe because he just does a ton of damage per turn and his "Hoarding Energy" condition is still bugged to go off on his next turn, rather than 2 turns.
