Larian Studios Forums Baldur's Gate III Baldur's Gate III - General Inaccessible area in Mind Flayer Colony

I am running my 2nd play through and I missed a LOT the first go around, including not even finding Astrarion, the whole swamp area, the Hag, Myrina or any of that. (Obviously I found them this time) So this time I am trying to hit everything I missed last time.

I am in the Mind Flayer Colony and viewing some online guides, their maps show an area (the bulb in the bottom left corner of the map below with the quest marker) that I cannot for the life of me figure out how to access and their guides don't show either. I have got an opaque wall saying "chasm" right by the gut chute tube by "Chop", and you cannot attack the wall and break it. There are no access points that I can find anywhere and I do not have any quest markers or even show that area lit up on my map. I saw one online video with a guy teleporting from the gut chute tube to an area below with a climbing wall and paths, but I cannot move the camera to the other side of the opaque wall. I am guessing his teleport access was an exploit he found that has since been patched? How the heck do you access this area?

P.S. I've seen a few posts that appear to be about this area, referencing accessing it from the Gauntlet of Shar? I've done the entire Gauntlet and completed it. There was an environment area similar to the colony over past Orthon I think, but I did not see any access to the Mind Flayer Colony from there and I do not have any quest markers .

That area is the corpse disposal right underneath the prison.

There are numerous ways to get there, all of its entrances are within Moonrise Prison though;

• Either jump through the hole located in cell #3 (your cell if you get caught)
• Or jump through the bloody ritual hole behind Warden's locked office door
• Or simply go behind the walls of the cells and descend to that area
• Get captured by the Absolute army if you decide to press on to Baldur's Gate too early
• Get captured by the Absolute hiding inside the cracked tower wall

The Illithid Oubliette (the area you are currently in) can only be accessed during the ACT's finale and is not directly connected to that corpse disposal area, so you'll have to deal with Ketheric first and then go back to Moonrise Prison to explore it.

The cells in the basement of Moonrise Tower? Can you get back to those from the mind flayer colony, or did I need to explore that area before I jumped in the hole down to the colony?

Yup, you'll be able to explore it after you're done with the mindflayer colony too.
