So the honor mode fight against Orin is completely bonkers. She gets 12 stacks of unstoppable a turn and someone gets hit with banes edict each turn. Which means if said character does not get a kill they die. But almost all enemies have sanctuary and 5 stacks of unstoppable. So you need 5 hits just to do damage and then you still need to kill the enemy, and if they have sanctuaryyou are just screwed. Given the games action economy this is basically impossible unless you are spamming 6th level magic missile. But if you waste time killing minions you can't fight Orin as again you need 12 hits a turn to damage her.

This fight needs a rework, I had to run come back, and sneak kill all the minions, then have everyone spam magic missile scrolls to kill her. The fight is basically impossible without cheese tactics(note that this version of the fight happens if your durge loses to Orin)

Interesting. I did not fight her before and now I'm in Honour mode. Maybe not the best idea. Can you control her or is that practically impossible, like for many of the bosses? The need of sneak killing minions really doesn't sound nice, but might fit with the sometimes strange ideas of Larian about good quest and combat design, "Souls style" (aka Who needs immersion?).

I legit did not know that not fighting her was an option, how do you do that?

I assume she was in her Slayer form?

Because I also lost the duel during my blind Honour run (wanted to beat her honourably as a Slayer myself), but I can't say her original form with 12 stacks posed much of an issue after things escalated.

She ended up disarmed and then tripped on the floor flopping like a fish while paralyzed as my physical party just kept smacking away at her through the stacks, even got the achievement not to kill any ritualists. Kinda humiliating and anticlimactic grin

Surprisingly she is very easy to crowd-control, especially paralysis or disarm. I think she is equally susceptible to crowd-control in her Slayer form.

Haven't tried it on honour mode yet, but sanctuaried enemies are still affected by AoE effects e.g. smokepowder arrows, roaring thunder arrows. If they have sanctuary AND unstoppable, then yikes that does sound pretty hard. I guess I would bring more smokepowder arrows in that case.

Act 3 spoilers

I concluded that my best bet is just beating her in a duel and hyper-preparing for it. The “unstoppable” thing is a lot. So getting all of the best equipment in the game first and equipping the relevant pieces to my Durge, getting as high of an armor class as I can, having a good stock of high-level scrolls and haste potions, spells like invisibility and sanctuary, casting as many buffs as I can on my character right before entering the fight, getting a kiss from my love interest for good luck (this is the most important part of prep! lol), that type of stuff. Because yeah, I’m not eager to fight her when she has so many benefits from Bhaal as his newly official Chosen.

Oh and it helps too, if you can finish the Necromancy of Thay quest and get the Danse macabre spell, because you can summon up a bunch of zombies to attack her. Summons are always good. And you permanently have 20 temporary hit points if you read the Tharchiate Codex and then use the spell “remove curse” on yourself. And then keep that book in your inventory. So plenty of different ways to make sure you knock your duel out of the park.

You can simply use a magic missile with a high level slot to remove all stacks of unstoppable (especially sorcerer with 2 magic missiles) and to kill her in one turn afterwards.

A misunderstanding, I worded badly. I did not fight her yet because I stopped my normal run at lvl 10 before any Act 3 bosses. Now I have to face them first in Honour mode. So I'm very much for a nerf to Orin. biggrin

I honestly had more issues with the priests around Orin. They woke up after I killed her and I then had to deal with them. Which was more challenging than Orin was tbh.
