Thanks everyone. I should have mentioned I'm on Xbox.
I gave her a shield, helm and metallic boots and gloves. I don't think they said heavy armor on them, just a plus to athletics or saving throws or something. But I'll take them off her and see.
I may not be understanding spell slots. I thought if I had, let's say four slots I could have four spells at the ready to be used. Or does it mean I can use any spell four times before I need to rest?
