I'm in great favour of a transmog system. While I still have to find the "phenomenal looking" (vanilla) armor (except one robe it's mostly ... meh), a transmog ability allows for individualisation, always a nice feature. For example I don't want to wear gloves with enclosed fingers on my lighter armored or casting chars. I want sandals on the feet of some lightly clothed chars instead of terribly looking boots which only fit to medium or heavy armor visually while not having the armor group label (Nere's boots for example).

The transmog mod I'm using works fine but having it in the vanilla game would be better.

It would be a great idea to add this. Also instead of dyes being used to pick only set combinations of colours it should let you pick primary/secondary/tertiary/etc colours individually.

+1!

When I first read the board title, I read "Transmog," and my brain was like, like the transfiguration potion in Harry Potter when Hermione changed herself into a cat??? 8'D Then I realized you meant changing the appearance of the armor into another. I was all "OHHH, THEY MEAN like COSMETIC/VANITY ARMOR/SKIN" And I was like +1, I need this xD

You know who has absolutely amazing looking Armor? Path of Exile:

I'm a sucker for shinies :x I'm not saying I need this in BG3, but Larian if you're lurking, I wouldn't say no to this in the next game :| I like wings, portals, auras, and particle effects.. A LOT 8'D

Transmog is one of those features, of which I'd say that I don't need them ... but which I'd most definitely use at least as soon as I get Ketheric's ill-advised armour. Those spikes around the neck just seem like a very bad idea and bother me every time I see the thing on anyone who isn't an unkillable warlord.

Also I like those early / mid game robes that show off Gale's orb so nicely. Shallow reason, I know. ^^

If patch6 releases without transmog Ill be heartbroken.

NewGame+ would pair nicely with it as well, so we can start campaigns looking clean.

It would be awesome to have this integrated into the core game instead of requiring a mod -- especially since it would be able to benefit console users as well.

The dye system could also use some improvements as well: have a right-hand panel showing all of the dye colors currently in your inventory, while on the left you can slot in various pieces of equipment to PREVIEW the changes before you commit.

No transmog. Fashion should have a price. Remember the evolutionary impetus of the peacock - "success despite the impediments of the form"*

There is honor in showing up looking stunning, in a non-ideal stat-wise bit of equipment and still owning everyone around you.

Or, show up looking like pure dog shit knowing you are here to whoop ass, not go to a fashion show - this is the Fromsoftware way.

* Peahens are most attracted to Peacocks that have the most outrageously long tail and side feathers. The evolutionary reasoning is that if they can succeed despite these handicaps then they are worth mating with. (see The Red Queen Theory by Matt Ridley)

Personally I'm not a fan of items having completely different stats than what they look like, but in a DnD/fantasy setting it would actually be very easy to implement this is a lore friendly way; glamour magic. Illusions should definitely be able to make characters look any way they like.

For example Disguise Self could be expanded to allow the caster to select the clothes and armour which they appear to be wearing. And IMO it would be logical if they could only replicate items which they have had time to study, i.e. things that they have had in their inventory, and not just any item in the game. Disguise Self is already available to a lot of different classes, otherwise I think anyone can get it in the form of a feat.

And if people are going to run around with illusions up all the time I think it would be fun if they also added more flavour interactions, e.g. high perception characters and spell casters occasionally commenting on it, perhaps even casting Dispell Magic occasionally on the player if antagonized.
