The whole Mother Superior post-battle outcome needs some serious attention because her encounter is terribly buggy and all over the place;
After she is defeated and lying unconscious on the ground there should be a cutscene when speaking with her to decide whether to spare her or not, but this does not trigger at all and instead it is the pre-battle scene in which she acts as if Shadowheart is not in the party and as if we did not just have a massive battle on our hands.
And if the player actually kills her so they can loot her corpse after the battle, Shadowheart will not register this whatsoever and will act as if Mother Superior escaped instead.
Well, this is extremely unfortunate because it used to work fine. I wonder if it’s broken only for the evil path, or for both the evil and good. On the good path, Mother Superior died during the battle, so I didn’t get a cutscene or any commentary on it really. I played through it several days ago, before the last hotfix. It’s disappointing how many things have been broken since patch 4.
Long story short, I didn’t get a cutscene at all, after the battle, when Mother Superior died in battle. I thought it was a logical consequence, but it’ll be very disappointing if it was a bug.
I actually never managed to kill her in combat, pretty sure she is always supposed to get knocked out so her cutscene can play out. But yeah could probably be tied to an evil Shadowheart as there tons of inconsistencies and wrong registries with evil decisions in general that I've been observing. Very little care has gone into evil decisions unfortunately.
Luckily however I finally finished Honour Mode today so it's back to the regular scheduled program of playing Tactician so I can now properly report all this stuff to Support
Ah well I cast insect plague on her…. guess the bugs kept chewing even after she was knocked out. She also never attacked me on any turn. I hope the encounter isn’t bugged on the good playthrough now, as well as on the evil one. The conclusion of Shadowheart’s questline is already a bit bare bones for me, so bugs on top of that would be awful.
I had the same thing go down, with the non-lethal knock out. No cutscenes triggered for me.
I thought about popping off a crossbow bolt to see if that would bring up the Shadowheart cutscene, but couldn't bring myself to do it, mainly cause it was Viconia.
Anyhow same deal. Had to leave it lie in honour and just go do the mirror stuff instead.
Wanted to chime in that both I and a friend are experiencing the same bug on this patch. I'm playing Astarion Origin with a Selunite Shadowheart, they're playing Durge with a Selunite Shadowheart. Both tactician, if that's relevant. Exact same issue as you mentioned - when she should be having her defeated dialogue with Shadowheart, Viconia instead gets stuck on the dialogue she has if you approached her pre-fight without Shadowheart. Speaking with her multiple times loops through the same tree.
I'd wondered if it was related to the state in which Viconia got knocked out - for me, she kept getting KO'd at 0 hp instead of 1 - but it seems that you're having the same problem when the game knocks her out correctly.
I want to add that I just played this scene yesterday, and it is 1000% broken and bugged. I’m playing as a good Durge with a Selunite Shadowheart. After the battle, Mother Superior was marked as knocked out and NOT dead. I tried clicking on her, but all I got was the same lines that played when you first talk to her. Even though I had already gotten those lines with her before the battle! I got the same result even when using Shadowheart to talk with her.
I believe the scene was broken with patch 4. Because I played it with patch 3 several months ago, and it worked. (In hindsight, patch 4 was such a huge mess, I wish that they had just rolled it back.) Normally, Shadowheart has an encounter with Mother Superior and more to say after the battle, but in this case, I could only select the dialogue option, “Mother Superior is dealt with, what’s next?”
I don’t like that things are getting broken that worked perfectly well before.
I had this too with Gale-Origin and Selunite Shart. I had originally wondered if it was related to her being paralysed by Crawler Mucus when getting knocked out, but apparently not. Unfortunately I forgot to make a convenient save to write a bug report about this.
