This seems like a good option for those that can't or don't want to mod their game. I personally use a mod that makes the already existing paladin deity tags visible. They do seem to only refer to Good or Evil gods and make no reference to each particular deity afaik. Oathbreaking works just as usual.
I always found so confusing that there's dialog in game in which Gale says that as a paladin you have received your power from your god but you didn't actually pick one when you create your character.
