Every patch. Every. Single. Patch. My wife and I try to play split screen on my PC. And every. single. fucking. patch, it's always the same goddamned issues. There's never even any recognition from Larian regarding the constant splitscreen issues on PC (and from what I've read console too).
This is unacceptable. I don't care how great the game is to play solo, or multiplayer on two different devices. I don't give a singular shit. I want to play SPLITSCREEN as the goddamn game ADVERTISES, and I can't. Go ahead and google "BG3 splitscreen crashing." there's NUMEROUS posts about this. So how are we this far into release, and we don't even get a singular damn nod from larian stating they at least know and are working on the issue?
No, because they'd rather cater to everyone else, and fuck those of us who want to play locally with our spouses, family, and friends, rather than have to buy another copy of the game--let alone possibly another entire PC to run the damn game.
This is ludicrous, and I am sick and tired of it. Until SOMEONE AT LARIAN RESPONDS TO THIS SHIT, I am posting every single day that the known and documented splitscreen issues go unresolved. This is completely bs, and completely unacceptable. I just want to be able to play this game with my spouse without the stupid game freezing and locking up or crashing constantly. ffs!

If you do post every single day, it might be best to bump this post. So that the forum doesn’t get flooded or something. It does sound very frustrating and I wish they would communicate better.

Absolutely agree. In split screen mode game just unplayable. Crashing every 10 - 100 sec. Spent 3 days checking all possible causes and fixes and nothing. Patch 6 fix nothing. Sended bug report but don't get any response ~ one week already.

BUMPING THIS BS. Still no fix, still no word from Larian. Nobody cares about splitscreen, we get to suffer. It's unacceptable that it was even released in the state it was in, and ignoring the issue only adds salt to the wound. GIVE US A RESPONSE FFS

A hotfix out, with 2 or 3 fixes. Nothing whatsoever about the massive SPLIT SCREEN ISSUES. Also still no word on Split Screen from Larian.
I am not joking. I will post every day to every other day until this is fixed, I am absolutely sick of trying to play this with my spouse, only for us to be disappointed in a myriad of freezing and crashing.

I can completely understand your frustration, and you have my full support! The fact that the game still struggles with crashes is shocking to me. We play on the PS5 and have been waiting since release for the split-screen feature to be disabled. Especially at launch, the game had extreme freezing issues, making it almost unplayable. At some point after Patch 4 or so, we started experiencing extremely frequent crashes. And for a while now, we've been out, we've lost interest in the game. It's good, but the permanent split-screen ruined it for us. To this day, I don't know if they are aware of the problem or if it will ever be changed... I started the game solo and initially had fun, but after Patch 6, the stealth mode is broken, which is the final blow for me. We also feel that the co-op mode is being seriously neglected. We waited for half a year, and only now, after Patch 6, do we have the option to adjust the font size of books, etc. It was always so small before that you couldn't read anything. For such a small thing, it just comes way too late. Now my wife and I are done with BG3.

It is bullshit that coop has been in this state for this long without even a word. Appreciate the support, we need to get this noticed!

BG3 is my wife's first D&D game. And she liked it. The first time the game crashed was 5 minutes into the game, right after the prologue. We thought it was an accident and played all evening without crashes. But from the next day it started crashing every minute, sometimes it didn’t even have time to load after the main menu. I spent the whole weekend trying to do something, tried all the ways. Nothing helped, now I have a PC in which I need to install everything again, lost several days of my life that we could have spent happily together and complete disappointment in the studio, which I considered one of the best in the world. I follow this thread every day and will keep it active until the problem is resolved.

Also, bumping yet again, as we have yet to have any acknowledgement from Larian that they even KNOW about the issue. I mean it, I will not stop until some word about this from Larian is posted. Give us an answer, Larian! We are paying customers and deserve to have this buggy mess with splitscreen fixed, period! You advertised this as a split-screen coop game, and currently split screen is flat unplayable. That is false advertisement.

This right here is a godsend, that is really all I was hoping to see--that at least Larian knows about and is working on the issue. My wife and I have been trying to play this together since release, since we are both complete DnD geeks. Appreciate the update. I don't suppose you'd know if this is something that might show up in the next patch or two, or is still a long ways down the pipeline?

You won’t get a response as to when and how. They never give anything or notices like that in case they have to walk it back. Let’s just hope it’s soon.

I totally get you as someone who also plays with her partner when we are not playing on an actual table! At the moment I can only confirm it's been investigated, and I don't have an ETA.

Also joining this thread. I am glad that Larian had acknowledged this problem and are working on it.
When BG3 first came out, my husband and I bought it on PS5 with the precise purpose of playing it in split screen together. But, well... You know how that went. It was literally unplayable in couch co-op. I have switched to PC, I'm forced to play alone, and I don't want to play with anyone else except my beloved who knows how I behave as a player and has a perfect synergy with me in co-op. We haven't tried playing the game together for months, ever since it's been crashing, lagging, sending us into fits of helpless rage... I cannot fully describe how frustrated we were, after years of waiting for this game to come out, knowing that Larian would definitely do it justice, only to be denied the feature that is supposedly already there.
I truly, sincerely hope this matter will be resolved some day and we'll be able to have the same glorious experience that we used to have with DOS 2.

I have bought the collector's editiona few weeks before launch for my wife so we could play split screen co-op like we did with DoS 1 and 2. I understand that in the beginning there were a few issues, but it has been a year and we tried again and again after every patch, tried every online solution and cannot get past the end of act one due to constant freezes and crashes.
To get even there we had to do all sorts of workarounds and janky stuff. The game works fine single player - my wife has completed it lots of times, but I have not been able to enjoy the game with her. It really saddens me, because you can see Larian puts a lot of effort in this game, but come on... One year and you cannot fix something as fondumental as split screen co-op? It is advertised as such, I expect it would work by now.
If any developers are reading this please put some focus on this issue. Your previous games hold a very special place in my heart especially because I could enjoy them together with my partner playing split-screen.
