Regardless of which race you pick at the start of the game, all players may enjoy the experience unique to every race in this game. All you'd need to do is to disguise yourself to match the race of the NPCs you will be interacting with. For goblins, you match them with the appearance of being a Drow.

In this game, you being a Drow are often mistakenly considered by goblins to be the equivalent of another Minthara. That's why they, in general, treat you with respect, making your early gameplay more likely to be a bit smoother. However, they won't be able to recognize that you are not a Lolth worshipper (not another Minthara). And outside this little backdrop, you being a Drow carries little meaning. You being a Drow are not hated everywhere.

In general, NPC in this game tend to completely ignore your race other than occasionally making a race-specific comment. Even if you are not a Gith and are not traveling with a Gith, you may still proceed with a Gith-specific quest line.

In terms of unique in-game racial benefits not bound to any race by the rulebook, being a Gith is far better than being any other race.
