Wouldn't help in OP's instance because
Alcohol only gives
disadvantage to
Dexterity and
Charisma checks, whereas
Poisoned gives
disadvantage to absolutely everything.
In my case however, sure I suppose it would be better. But I'm a nasty food hoarder, throwing it away is a sin
