Also having this issue, but for me it was somewhat later into Act 2. I e-mailed Larian support and was told it's being looked into and they already know about it. Fingers crossed.
Thanks for the info! Guess I'll put the game on hold for now and hope it's fixed by the time I return to it. I can't be bothered to do Act I for the Xth time, just feels like a chore with all the running around.
