Full disclosure: I run a modded game.

I can't open the camp chest - the animation plays but the chest inventory screen does not open.

I tried closing the game and re-opening it, quicksave and quickload, other characters, reloading older saves, and changing camps - nothing works.

I have two suspects:

I have a ridiculous amount of inventory, probably literally hundreds of thousands of items. So inventory might have broken down. But older saves where I know the camp chest worked no longer work.

The other suspect is patch 6 - the camp chest was working, I took about a month break, during which patch 6 dropped, and now that I am back to playing the chest is broken. No mods have changed, but since patch 6 hit I am getting a data type mismatch warning.

I know the official answer is 'uninstall the mods', but I am hoping someone has an alternative, and I have no idea what mods are problematic - nothing I have changes the camp chest or general inventory options.

Help?

Same here including the brush off by refrence to mods (also for other reports)... It is what it is... Unfortunately... I stick with Patch 5 now and will do no more bug reports bcs it makes no sense to play with mods until the game is finally finished with patches, but only Alaundo knows when this will be and he's dead.

I am having a similar issue. Every time I try to open the Traveler's chest in camp, I wind up looking at Shadowheart's inventory.

There is a work-around to access the chest. After attempting to open it, its portrait appears in the top right. Clicking on that opens the chest.

Regarding the data mismatch warning you get..

"Are you getting a data mismatch error in the launcher? If so, it would have created a log file listing any files in the install folder which are not expected, as well as files in the Mods folder. To check this, if applicable, copy the following line into the location bar in Explorer and hit Enter: %LocalAppData%\Larian Studios\Launcher\Cache Then look for a text file named steam_<VersionNumber>_alteredFiles.txt (or similarly, starting with 'galaxy_', for the GOG version)."

See if there are log files created for you, maybe that could help you get a perspective over the issue?

I also had a mismatch warning related to the script extender. I deleted script extender and enhanced ui, which were the only mods I had left, but the error remained after that. But the game had also become unplayable, apart from the message. I had to delete all BG3 files from the local steam folder and appdata folder and reload the game and reinstall afresh to get rid of this message and re-enable the gameplay.
