I rescued Wyll's dad
despite getting Wyll out of his pact
, and it didn't seem to be properly acknowledged by the other people at my camp. I'll put in as many steps as I can remember, because my path seemed quite complicated to get there.

After rescuing Mizora from Moonlight Towers, demanding to end the pact, then completing act 2 and going on to meet Mizora in Baldur's Gate, I persuaded Wyll not to renew his pact. I asked if we could try to save his dad but he said he'd already be dead, so I left it a few days and got on with things.

Eventually I was trying to rescue the Gondians, which led me to the iron throne. First time, I took Gortash's warnings and left, and then I went to visit Ansur, which I think completed Wyll's companion quest. The next day, my character decides that Gortash was bluffing ("if he kills me, he'll lose my netherstones") and returns to the iron throne, WITHOUT WYLL.

We find Ulder Ravengard in the cells, and release him, I gain control and move him out of the cell, and then Mizora appears like a petulant child trying to make a big scene out of it. Only, he survived the first round of exploding spiders. So either Laezel or Shadowheart came up to him, and Dim Doored him as far down the corridor as they could, leaving the spiders running along behind.

I was expecting
that Mizora would be angry I'd beaten her, possibly kill the Grand Duke directly or try to punish me (although I was hoping to point out that I had no pact with her). I was happy enough that I'd been able to pull one over on her, it would have just been nice to get a reaction so I knew if Wyll's soul was still safe and so I could gloat some more.

What actually happened is
Ulder Ravengard did recognise Mizora and wasn't happy that she was in camp, but otherwise nothing was mentioned. I spoke to Mizora and she started talking about how exciting the Blade of Avernus sounded, "but we won't tell anyone a devil is pulling the strings," so I wondered if she had decided our agreement was void and she would keep Wyll's soul. It all worked out in the epilogue: Wyll said that he'd lost his powers, and that his dad was doing well.
