Daylight is supposed to dispel darkness by summoning a sphere of light or enchanting an item to shine like the sun. It looks like this spell is bugged and not dispelling Darkness or maybe works for like one turn. I'm fighting Viconia DeVir, the drow cleric of Shar, and her minions constantly spam Darkness, completely nullifies my party. On a side note, looks like the legendary mace Blood of Lathandar doesn't work either. Please fix Larian!

Yup, I noticed this and found it very weird.

Wonder if this is a Patch 6 issue? I defeated Viconia just before the patch and it seemed to be working fine.

I'm curious, when you fought Viconia, did Daylight continuously dispel Darkness or did it work only initially on that round? The fight is extremely difficult with Daylight being currently bugged as her minions constantly spam Darkness.

Hmmm now you got me wondering. I recall needing to cast daylight multiple times, I had Shadowheart and a Paladin (I seem to recall my Palidin could cast it too?) As it was my first time in this fight my strategy involved continually backing up the stairs. The AI cast darkness Multiple times (because I was moving back up the stairs and relocating pretty much every round) and I responded multiple times. Does that answer your question?

Yes, thanks for the clarification. It sounds like Daylight may work initally to dispel Darkness, but needs to be recast multiple times to get enduring effect. I still think spell is bugged and Daylight should have a continual effect of dispelling Darkness in the area.

Ok I understand now. I did indeed have to cast a "new" daylight to dispel each "new" darkness cloud.

As Daylight is a 3rd Level Spell and Darkness is only a 2nd Level Spell, Daylight should dispel Darkness for its entire spell duration, and not just for the initial spell cast.

I couldn't even get daylight to work temporarily to dispel the darkness, as it was impossible to cast or target any spell, within the areas affected by darkness! It was utterly maddening. I couldn't even drink healing potions when in the darkness area of effect (nor within the same turn if I moved out of the darkness). This spell feels really OP for a 2nd level spammable.
