I just did the gith fight with a two person lvl 4 party no cheese, no barrels, no scrolls, no pre-setup except for having aid up, and I used one (1) alchemists fire. Just walked straight in there, had a chat, called them traitors then dealt from there. Took 2 reloads before I got it....
Since any form of proof is missing I call bullshit!
In the same spirit as what MrFuji3 is saying, it is a rare feature that is the trademark of 5e Goblins. They are weak, but can stealth and Disengage. With tactics/ambushes, they can hurt or destroy low level players.
In BG3, the issue I had, is many Goblins throw powerful explosive cocktails that can do way tooo much damage !
like 15 to 20 fire damage +1d4 damage from the bottle +1d4 fire splash (aaaaahhhh!)
That is a lvl 3 goblin dealing 60+ damage to your party in one turn! Another thing this game has is a special ability that allows ranged lvl 3 gnolls THREE attacks for one turn. And the big gnoll can one shot EVERY member of your party.
I enjoyed DOS 1 and 2 but in this game I have currently ZERO fun. And combat hasn't changed one bit since the EA! Sadly it looks like this game was a waste of money and time.
