Hey all, it's been a while.
I recently started paying a lot more attention to the vocal responses and i was wondering about other people's experiences. By vocal responses I mean the little voice lines that characters have when you do things like select them, tell them to go somewhere, attack something, or interact with something.
At first, i was noticing a difference in the responses between my durge characters vs other characters, even with the same voiceset there are a lot of responses that i assumed were durge-specific (getting vocal responses like ALL IS ASH AND MEAT). The durge lines have a different sound quality than the standard lines, so they are not too hard to pick out even if you ignore the content. This actually ties in to something i noticed about the changing sound quality of voicelines, how you can tell what lines are newer than others because of the slight but noticeable difference in audio, but that's a different conversation.
Except then i started noticing that a non-durge character gave me the "ASH AND MEAT" line, as well as one I had somehow never heard before, something about paving my path with corpses and building my castle with bones... After telling my little avatar to calm down, I wondered why this was happening.
At first i thought it was some kind of bug, i had reloaded to this character from a durge save, so maybe something got confused? wouldn't be the first time the game had accidentally not cleared data between reloads. But, then I thought that maybe these lines are actually related to the path you choose when you go through act 1. I've not yet payed a good durge playthrough yet (i'm working on it) where I don't slaughter the grove. And this character isn't a durge, but they did slaughter the grove.
What have been other people's experiences with this? was I mistaken in thinking that these lines were durge only, when they were instead choice-related? Also, what's your favourite edgelord line you've heard?
