Larian Studios Forums Baldur's Gate III Baldur's Gate III - Technical & Gameplay Problems PC unplayable since last patch

As the title says since last patch i cant play for more than a couple minutes and the game crashes. On rare occasions its forcing my computer to reset too. I play a lot of game from Cyberpunk the strategy games and this is the only game I'm having issues with. It started this past Tuesday. I've tried everything i can think of on my end to fix. Verified files, uninstalled deleted left over files and reinstalled. checked for windows updates, Nvidia driver updates. I dont know whats going on but it started with the last hotfix.

system specs,
windows 11 home,
intel 13900
32gb 4800 bus ram
3880ti with latest driver.
all on a 4TB SSD drive.

not sure if anyone has had this issue and got it fixed but I'm all ears for fix options.

When is the last time you cleaned your computer from dust?

There might be dust in there thats causing overheat, a computer naturally shuts itself down to protect the hardware from taking lasting damage.
While issues like these have multitude of reasons this would just help narrow it down further, I just hope with the specs you listed that your rig has water coolant, cant rely on air alone with such power.

BG3 crashed my son's gaming oriented PC (water cooloing included) after he overclocked RAM.

Overclocking can cause stability issues and system crashes, not telling thats the case for you but its in the realms of possibility without proper power supply to supplement the increased voltage for example, is only recommended for advanced users to do overclocking for various reasons.

Forums are at times plagued by the gateway 504 errors, just to make sure it reaches the right people at Larian in case there is something with the game thats not optimal for specific hardware configuration.

One thing i did think about last night is i had engaged a XMP profile over the weekend. once i undid that change game has been better, but still crashes, every once in a while.

Do you get a message about no signal when your pc crashes?

there is no such thing... are you perhaps using a 3080?

try rolling back one hotfix to see if the game then becomes stable... that will remove the "it could be a driver issue" side of things
