What is everyone's thought on the future roadmap of this game? To me It seems to have quickly turned into a "Dead End".
I think future development is only possible if there are good tools and modding opportunities. Otherwise, yes, it's a dead end. It would be great if, while adding mod support, Larian would also put all those character lines that were recorded and voiced, but not included in the game, out in the open for modders. They don't need them anymore anyway. And just the opportunity to listen to these lines would be a nice farewell gift for fans. I also dream that the modders will bring the EA scenes back into the game, managing to replace the EA character model with the final version of the character in the original game.
-edit Oh and almost forgot to mention the possibilities of visiting Icewind Dale region, it is a really big shame we likely won't be able to have our big party of companions explore the more colder regions of the realm together, imagine how epic that would have been or even a possible standaloie DLC where we get to have ....
I came across information somewhere that one of the previously planned DLCs (which have now been canceled) was just supposed to allow a visit to Icewind Dale.
I feel the same way that Baldur's Gate 3 should never have been treated as a would-be live service game by fans and quite honestly cant see a future period and maybe that is for the better, given how it blew up followed with unrealistic expectations it came along with as consequence, if there would have been any future one of the things that should never have been touched on this long post release is rewrites of the more fundamentals of the story, perhaps better iterations of the same narration of story but no more than so.
Yes, it is. Expectations were huge, but unfortunately turned out to be unrealistic. BG3 started out as pure excitement, it seemed like the best game of its time, which is why there were such expectations... Rewriting the fundamentals of the story is the last thing worth doing, and the fear of the possibility of such a thing, in my case, completely offset the sadness of the lack of a sequel. Better nothing than bad.
Given SV's comments on how elated the studio was to ditch the DLC I wouldn't expect much more than some bug fixes.
Can't imagine they'll put out a DE. Reading that interview by SV it sounds like working on BG3 will be a form of punishment for Larian employees who are apparently all eager to move on.
Haha, yes, I agree, I got the same impression from this interview.
