The only reason I suggested his line change ever so slightly, is to remove the selfishness of the demand of Tav, for a suggestion. And it may still be possible to do the original line with if Tav asks to be turned. smile

Scolding - and what makes you think I haven't learned? So it's over?
The only option for reconciliation - No, we'll work it out.
Then the poor guy grabs his heart with trembling hands and says, "you're the one I love, the one I want to be with".
It is not good.

Not good at all. This dialog reminds me of some chauvinistic anecdote about a stupid woman pestering a poor guy with constant, "Do you love me???? No, you don't love me!!!! You said... (*the anecdote here has to be some funny stuff that caused the tantrum)". Only Astarion doesn't react like the man in the anecdote, and Tav is even nastier and meaner than the stupid heroine of the anecdote is supposed to be. It's clear that BG3 has its own very strong points (mocap, great voice acting, the very presence of such a character as Astarion) and no one expects for their Tav lines of Planescape: Torment or Disco Elysium level, but still, the gap between the intelligence of the character, which is expressed through their lines, and the intelligence of a living person, who is asked to choose lines for the character, should not reach such cosmic values.

But I thought about how wonderful it would be to hear Astarion's line, "You're the one I love, the one I want to be with," but spoken in a different way, without grabbing his heart with trembling hands, but with a warm gaze, as he wished. In response to a loving retort from Tav. And then Astarion moves on to "That's what you want, isn't it? To be mine? Forever?" It turns out that in that case, he's offering his own gift.

I like it a lot. To have everything that makes you happy in this world. It totally brings out my character's whole motivation, her goal and her dream. My "main quest" of the whole game.

This thread, also for me (and my personal opinion) needs to be addressed by Larian.

We need, like the OP stated, a positive option (many great suggestions in this thread), a neutral option, and they already have the negative options.

For a role playing game to only have demands or negative options for our Tav to respond to Astarion is not Logical.

Please Larian, we have been asking about this for some time and hope that you are listening to our feedback and suggestions for the romance of AA.

Thank you.

Great thread. I agree the second set of dialog options are bizarre and not at all in line with what most players are likely thinking at that point. You could honestly change, "I want you. I want your body" to something like, "I just want to be with you" without having any new lines recorded and I think it would solve like 70% of the problem. But I do think it would be nice, and in line with how the game has been played so far, to have an "I want nothing from you" option.

I think it bears repeating that this is not the same as asking Astarion's motivation in this scene to be changed; his end goal is to turn Tav, and he will either leave the conversation with a spawn or without a partner at all. We can argue about whether we really love that, but I'm willing to accept that as the writers' motives and goals for the character in that scene, as I think many others are as well. He is determined to twist literally anything Tav says into, "That means you want to be my spawn, don't you?" and there's no reason he can't do that if Tav says they are just happy to be with Astarion, or they don't want anything from him at all.

I can't speak to the changes requested for the spawn aftermath scenes as I haven't played them, but if there's no option to say no to Astarion there, that's equally problematic.

Both and "I just want to be with you", and "I want nothing from you" could lead very nicely into the conversation we already have, without having to change anything fundamental about AA himself.

"I just want to be with you": "And you can, my love. You could be mine forever, if you want it. One little bite is all it would take..."
"I want nothing from you.": "Nothing? Oh my dear, then you simply must (with dark undertones) allow me to bestow a gift upon you." (Cue offer to turn).

"I want nothing from you." I like it too, if framed in a way that Tav has no thoughts of any "reward" in mind. Tav is just happy because everything worked out, happy that Astarion is now finally free, he won't have problems with hunger and sun, he has power, etc. That's the reward.

For example, " My love, you said you feel alive again? I don't need anything more than that."

And a variant: "Nothing? Oh my dear, then you simply must (with dark undertones) allow me to bestow a gift upon you." Would be a great answer to that.

bump for possible changes to Tav's statement post ascension dialogue options. These are just some options to change it to at least one option that has a more positive note than what is currently in the game.

I love everything about this!
I'd also like any response where my character can finally tell him she loves him. Something like "I love you and only want to spend my life by your side." Or as an alternative to asking to become a vampire, asking to spend an eternity with him alone. "I wish only to be yours forever." Then at the end of the turning scene, what the narrator says already confirms your wish.

Yeah, great options! I think Astarion would love Tav's words, "I wish only to be yours forever.", it would fit perfectly, considering he wants the same thing himself. astarionhappy
