Unfortunately he can, even with the yucky blood. I would have much preferred a scene like they did for Karlach - also I would have liked a sex-free version of the act 1 moonlight scene, since with his unstable orb, Gale shouldn't be able to indulge either. On a positive note - so I don't sound too negative - Origin Spawn-Astarion and Gale is very cute and probably my favourite version of the game, so I am happy.
As far as other Origins go, I think you are safe, they just made a lot of modifications to Astarion's romance for Origin-Karlach. I have heard that Shart's Origin is supposed to be good.
Oh, and I forgot, Astarion-Origin cannot turn his lover, if he ascends. He can't also ask his companions for nightly blood - unless I missed something. From what I heard the trick to get a nice ending for Karlach-Origin and AA is to not long rest between defeating Cazador and the final battle, but others (or yt) can probably explain this better.
