Which tadpoles are you referring to?
If your Tav already got the black veins on them, I'm sorry to say there's no turning back:D I might be wrong but I don't remember having even a chance to choose after I consumed the 'special' tadpole that the emperor gives you. It takes some time to reach the full squid transformation tho.
