I have completed quests in the Dank Crypt, Emerald Grove, Goblin Camp, Risen Road, Blighted Village (most), and Waukeen's Rest and am not sure where to go next. My party is level 4 (almost 5), and I am not confident about taking on the hag. Doing the Mountain Pass will flag all earlier quests as completed. Not sure about the Underdark. I haven't done the Masterwork Weapon quest yet. Suggestions on how to proceed would be welcomed.

If you are planning to do all quests, I'd suggest to go to the underdark and do the easier stuff there untill you reach level 5. The power jump from level 4 to 5 is quite big, so after reaching that, you should be strong enough to do the rest of act 1 in what ever order you like.

Thanks. Is the easiest way to get to (and from) the underdark via the well in the Blighted Village?

Going through the well (or smithy) to reach the Underdark means going through Sheloba.
IMO the easiest is through the Zentarin Supermarket.
Either of these two routes allows you - with some use of Jump and Featherfall - to reach Mushroomvile without fighting Minotaurs or the Bulette.

If you are close to 5th lvl and you have not interacted with the Githyanki Patrol, you can talk your way through - that's some 400-500 XP.

Thanks. I stole Voss' sword, and now the giths are all hostile. I can bypass them with pass without a trace to get to mountain pass, but I don't think I'll be talking to them anytime soon.

There is another route to the Mountain Pass besides the one blocked by the Gith.

BTW - just today I took a 4th lvl party to the Underdark through Gut's bedroom. It was not that hard ...
But IMO taking the elevator and then avoiding the Minotaurs is the easiest path.

I took the elevator. Didn't realize the minotaurs were there but handled them... handily... between hand crossbows and Karlach.

Why does Gut have a bedroom in the underdark? I thought I killed her with the other 387 goblins.

Sorry for lack of clarity.
Behind Gut's bedroom there is a chapel with a ladder leading to the Underdark.

As to the elevator - instead of going "left" you could had continued straight to the loading platform (with winch, IIRC) and jumped off - Feather Fall - to the right.
There again navigation is a bit tricky smile
I had a funny event there - I passed too close to the minotaurs and one of them killed himself jumping on me smile

I would go to the underdark through Gut's room. Solving the Selune puzzle gives you some XP and you can descend to the chapel and find a nice armoour for Shadowheart without leaving the "safe" area. You'll also find a waypoint so you can easily return there later.
Then go back to the surface to finish business there first. Or you can face the minotaurs for some extra XP. It's possible to kill them at lvl 4,if you prepare your troops tactically. Maybe you need to lose one time to learn how to prepare.

Lol... Yeah, the minotaurs were not bad. The bulette I ran into shortly thereafter was another thing entirely.

One of the most frustrating oppponents in the game for me.
My fastest kill was using Dissonant Whispers (I had two Bards in the party) which caused Fear and Immoblised the beast.

Bring one of the minotaurs and he will target that while you hack away

Luke Skywalker: I don't, I don't believe it.
Yoda: That is why you failed.
