I'm not sure if these two spoilers have already been posted, but thought I would toss them out...
1) If you use the save and reload method to get good stats on important items, DO NOT BOTHER doing this when you first find the Dragon breastplate. [This only applies to the breastplate] After the Smith places the gem into the breastplate, he returns to you an item that has a completely new set of random stats. So, do your save/reload at that time.
Imagine my surprise when the wonderful Dragon breastplate I gave to the Smith was returned as a worthless pile of steaming excrement (figuratively of course) He wants his reputation to spread across Rivellon? Sure, I'll help by putting out the word about what a miserable craftsman he really is! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin1.gif" alt="" />
2) Even if you have items that are better than some of the Dragon Armor pieces, put on the complete set (including bejeweled breastplate) at least once. You'll get experience, and a level in a mage skill (elemental strike?), plus a one time blast of Bless(5) <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/party.gif" alt="" />
