Too many times now, after a big fight with many items and bodies strewn about one of my characters 'steals' an item considered sacred by a friendly. This results in any remaining friendlies going hostile, leading to another completely unnecessary fight - and one that often requires a reload of the entire battle.

In the most recent battle (in the 'Tadpoling Center') Karlach was chucking spears into mind flayers with complete abandon, and we managed to save Zevlor and the two Baldurian guards. However as Karlach gathered up her projectiles, she clicked on a Javelin that wasn't hers. Gasp! This resulted in the remaining Baldurians going hostile.

Please, please either disable this nonsense or allow the 'guilty' character to peaceably return the 'stolen' goods.

Sucks. Sometimes this causes aggro, sometimes just a "tempers are rising" glare - I haven't figured out when do you get which.

I've only had this happen so far when I'm looting off of a body and am seen by someone on the same side.

Like clicking on the body of a Harper and another Harper sees me.

Yeah, for some reason they don't like that.
I learned that when attempting to loot some dead Flaming Fist at Waukeen's Rest in Act 1.
There was some other Flaming Fist still alive, kneeling beside that dead one's body, obviously rummaging through his stuff.
So i figured it must be all free for taking. It wasn't, but killing her fixed the problem.

But on a more serious note, i run into this problem a few times when i looted what was clearly a dead enemy - one that I even killed myself!
For example, some of the goblins attacking the Emerald Grove - some were ok for me to loot, some were "off limits" and i had to do it sneaky sneaky.
Why would the tiefs/druids care about me taking those gobbo's stuff?
Was it a bug? or is there some logic to this that i am missing?

I've encountered loot that is red after a fight but no one on the other side cared whether I took it or not. So I might be a bug that it's red.

One thing I don't understand is after a fight, why are some enemies' items in red while others' aren't?

It's also inconsistent. As mentioned above, I had to perform a 'do-over' of the fight in the Tadpoling Center. This time none of the javelins or spears lying on the ground were marked red, and Karlach was able to pick up all of her missiles without any problems from the guards. To be clear, this is only a theory, but I think since the Baldurian guards were disgorged from their pods unarmed, they might have picked up some of the loose ammo on the ground and thrown them at the flayers. This then caused 'ownership' of the spears to transfer away from Karlach to the Flaming Fist. Maybe?

I noticed if there's any allies still left alive within a pretty vast distance, it counts as stealing. When all enemies in a "stronghold" are dead, the icon becomes white.

I.e. that could mean looting grove goblins is forbidden because Saza is still alive. Hypothetically. If the Druids react to you looting the bodies, that would be another issue. Goblin camp stayed red for me, but I blamed that on only knocking out the kids. If you kill an enemy that was only temporarily hostile, it can also get stuck with a red icon.
