A side quest where the patriarch of a storied noble house tasks you with finding and returning their sacred family ring (goes back twelve generations/worn by Uhoc the Lion himself) after it was stolen in a break in by a bridge troll. The quest ends with you discovering that the break in was staged by the patriarch’s son - He secretly took the ring himself and has been using it as a
cock ring in an orgiastic underground sex club. Turns out the fey qualities (your call) of the august ring work even better on a penis than an axe hand.
- Fun interrogating the bridge troll (who the son has paid to take the blame) as the troll (badly, ridiculously) tries to convince you of the story the son paid him to repeat.
- Fun discovering the underground sex club in flagrante delicto (secret grotto of humans and nymphs and ogres going to town). Before discovering the grotto, the player could be led to believe it is a gathering of nefarious cult members bent on some dark cataclysmic purpose. Then…surprise!
An apprentice caster character (wizard, sorcerer, witch) with a
stutter. Endearing/inspiring to hear them timidly try to call out a spell in battle (
“T t t…Tormentum!” “G G G Glacies!” “Ti Ti Timere!”). Sometimes they falter completely on the words and it’s a critical miss. As the game progresses (perhaps they can practise speech therapy in camp at night) the stutter becomes more manageable and their spells become more reliable and powerful. By end of game they call out their spells confidently and with the ring of command. Love to see what a voice actor would do with it and hopefully nice solidarity with people who struggle with this.
The painfully beautiful custom character the player creates should become the game’s primary villain. Their intentions are noble and heroic throughout the first act, and more than a few times it is hinted that they are the chosen one of prophecy etc etc…But at the end of Act one they betray the party. The betrayal should be surprising but not completely out of nowhere upon review.
- Act 2 begins ten years later and you would either create a new hero or pick one of the story support characters to be the new protagonist.
If you have a thief class in the party can valuable things from the main character’s inventory randomly appear in the thief’s? Just to reinforce the rascalism of the thief character. How’d that get in there
Would love also to see more trash talk/banter in inventory screens.
THAT’S MY APPLE!One or two characters should have allergies to a certain flower or mushroom. It might spice up sneaking portions of the game where if a sneaking character starts sneezing they will be caught. I’d love to hear a character sneaking past a dragon suddenly whisper
“Oh no. Is that weavemoss.” And then we would hear a sneeze coming and have to try and drink or craft the antidote potion before they sneezed. Allergies as a mechanic also might point to a rare ingredient nearby useful for crafting.
Would be nifty if crafting was handled by a camp witch. Basic ingredients would offer standard potion fare. Certain powerful potions would require rare ingredients. The witch comes from a far away country and speaks a different language that only one character can translate. So the witch’s requests often come out strange.
These would range from the disgusting (a pint of hot, frothy bull semen), to the cryptic (a book of water writ…a rock at the bottom of a waterfall) to the strange (five hairs from an uncrowned king). Just incidental little side quests and things to watch out for.
If you were ever to consider an autoloot mechanic upon leaving a map (like in Pathfinder’s) I think it would be cool if it was all handled by Cniva. Cniva is an impressively filthy cutthroat with one eye and one ball and no tongue who lives to strip a battlefield of its valuables. Cniva gives you gold on the spot for the worthless junk he finds. Any rings he finds he gives back to you with severed fingers still in them (He finds it easier to just cut the ring finger off instead of pulling it off). Cniva would be kind of an inventory managing mechanic. Mostly just be cool to see rings with severed fingers in them in an inventory screen.
