Finally started playing with gameplay mods, instead of simply cosmetic ones. Created a Dhampir (think daywalker in the Wesley Snipes tradition) Shadow Sorcerer. Honestly the Dhampir race so far seems rather OP, because they have a 'free' movement ability that almost completely neutralizes attacks of opportunity. But I like the look...

I gave Kimiko new hair and clothes, which make her look more similar to her tv show counterpart.

Just got through with my first playthrough. No mods. Still reeling. Please meet my Tav: Sava!

Tav'ith'sava hatched at Crèche Ende'zor, deep underneath the Uthangol Mountains, in the Year of the Emerald Sun, 1454DR. She trained in the ways of the soldier but was later sent to a base in the Astral Sea to become a necromancer under the guidance of sa'varsh Di'klathu. The powerful necromancer Di'klathu moved her operation to the fringes of Elturgard in the Year of the Nether Mountain Scrolls, 1486DR. Unbeknownst to Sava, Di'klathu had fallen into disfavour with Tunarath and tried to win it back by providing new magical formulae, healing potions and undead horrors to the fight against the ghaik. This meant that Sava could not rely on supplies from across the mortal plane, but had to learn how to purvey components and ingredients for her disgraced sa'varsh's experiments in the wilderness and societal fringes, trying to hide her Gith-background when moving among the scum of the Sword Coast. Di'klathu's ever more desperate struggle to win back the favour of her queen led her to make the acquaintance of Balthazar and selling Sava to the Absolute. Sava was spending a nice afternoon looking for Rogue's Morsel, WHEN SUDDENLY...

Until it was replaced on some missions with the Coldbrim Hat and other selected head-gear, this is the same pointed hat she found at the Ravaged Beach with some extra slits for the ears, courtesy of Shadowheart. With her soldier background and Martial Prodigy skills I played Sava like a female gith Gandalph - sword (Phalar Aluve) and staff (mostly Nature's Snare and Staff of Cherished Necromancy). The plan was to play an evil-aligned, mean-spirited Githyanki. Next, an up-to-no-good cleric, a vampire spawn and a githyanki necromancer sneak up on a bunch of humans fleeing from goblins...and decide to side with the druids. There goes a plan.

It was an amazing run that took me only days to a full year to complete due to juggling two jobs and a nursing case in the family. I will never forget exploring the Underdark during a week off and spending a glum Christmas at the Last Light Inn under my own Shadowcurse, freeing Thaniel on New Year's Eve and then heading off to Rosymourn just when temperatures outside dropped to match the higher altitude. My biggest regrets are probably not being able to invest enough time and mind during Act 1 and missing some stuff. The worst was probably
allowing Waukeen's Rest to burn down with everyone inside
because I hadn't understood the passage of time in BG3 yet and got annoyed after an almost TPK.

While I'm not sure if I will ever have the time to play another full run, Sava will live on in my AD&D 2nd Edition home campaign. It was actually a former player who wanted to bring the band back together who invited me to play Baldur's Gate 3 with him and some other former players. While we never got around to more than meeting at the Owlbear cave one afternoon and getting evicted by Mother Owlbear, I sure need to reach out to thank him for this brilliant campaign which I would otherwise have missed. It was really amazing. Thank you, Larian and Sava!

Nice story, great screenshots and I like that you've gone to the trouble of laying them out like that. Even if part of me expects some speech bubbles over it hehe
So did you play BG 3 in multiplayer?

Thanks! Yeah, we did manage to pull off one brief session, but ultimately conflicting schedules made it impossible. That was August 2023. The game was released just as I had completed the prologue. From what I saw on Steam, the others did a few more sessions but didn't finish Act 1. I have a ton of screenshots and there is definitely some cool meme material in there. After Sava and I had some time off from each other, we'll sift through the screenshots and install the Impact font. The collage actually wasn't much work. I did this during a Zoom call while writing the post. It's free for seven days: https://picsart.com/collage-maker/

Very interesting topic and great story regarding necromancer!

Funnily enough I have something similar with my dark urge with a collage made from an array of pictures, like a love story between the dark urge and Minthara, but I never dared to make a topic similar to yours for fear of sounding ridiculous.
Now that I read yours and how well you worded yours, this sounds pretty damn creative. laugh

I always love to see other peoples character stories tbh. There also was a roleplay thread here somewhere, where op asked for character backstories and motivations. But I do think, it fits here too.

Is there a good image posting site to share pictures? I'm always conserned about online privacy, and for me many of the sites demand way too much in terms of that.

@Sava I love the dress your character is wearing in the epilouge, is it Githyanki specific?

@Xenonian I would love to see it too if you ever decide to share your story. biggrin

@Xenonian, Thank you, and happy to hear that! With my AD&D group, I've been the DM/narrator for so long, I couldn't create a character without coming up with a background. I also think that, while it were Tav's dialogue options that take us through the interactions, we never hear their voice. So, this is where player imagination comes into play and allows us to tell our own meta-story with all added expletives and Githyanki hissing. This is why I also consider this role-playing.

@fylimar, I'll definitely tell a little more about Sava's trip from the wilderness to Baldur's Gate in that roleplayers' thread.

@KiraMira, it really has that Githyanki look, doesn't it? But it's the Elegant Robe with Bloody Plum dye, if I remember correctly. It's the one I got for saving Figaro, but there are several Lower City and even Rivington locations where you can loot or buy it. For hosting the pics, I simply used my own FTP-server. On most of these sites with free service, if you're not the buyer, you're the product. One layer of security is not having everything in one place. With one of my bands we used DropBox a lot. I think they offer an image-embedding option and didn't ask too many questions.

I use Imgur. It is ok, but there might be better sites online.

I'd quite like to replay in multiplayer some time, although I don't know if I'll ever find enough people to play with reliably.

I started watching Ginny Di and a few other YouTubers talking about D&D character personality last autumn. My character personalities went from pretty much "has a wolf" to like a full page...
Also around that time I was playing a sorcerer at the tabletop and a bard in BG3, which are both charisma-based full casters but they had very different personalities, which helped me to explore that

This was our issue exactly. I think the two guys who managed to do a few sessions both had a 9-to-5. I was working late shifts from home and had band rehearsal on the weekends, so we just didn't find a shared window.

One of my players put it this way: A good RPG evening is 1/3 adventure, 1/3 action and 1/3 soap opera. Exploring a creepy ruin for a legendary treasure and killing a bunch of icky monsters on the way is fun, but it just adds another dimension if the characters and NPCs in the group have proper interactions and players don't talk to each other, but in character. Having a proper background and knowing how your character feels about this or that goes a long way.

I like this analogy, I might use it myself. I'm GMing a Pathfinder game at the moment and we're doing a pretty decent job of keeping everything in character and adding inter-party banter (some people like acting as their character, others describe their character's actions/words), although one of the players is new and needs a bit more help.

Steal it! Some people are natural actors, for some it's weird to do it, especially for those players who like to play the craziest thing in the book. I've almost ruined my voice for some monster NPCs, now imagine growling or screeching through a talk-heavy session as a player trying to find clues in the village beneath the dungeon entrance. In my experience, people get more comfortable with playing the role over time and also more experienced with which roles work for them as players. My job as a DM is to allow the whole experience to become immersive.

Wood elf by name of Dakini (the dark urge) who was worshipped by a handful of tribes, something happened that caused the tribes to fight amongst themselves which angered Dakini to the point of breaking loose and started her thorough and meticulous plotting to bring that anger to the world of Fae'run where the tribes live and this plotting and scheming I fitted into the story of Baldur's Gate 3 and would have consequences to all of Fae'run not just the tribes, her hunger for such power to achieve that charmed up Minthara, who just happened to be a pebble in the way of her manipulation but some unexpected love happened which saved themselves, so they both fell for what the other represented with very similar hunger for what they strived for, Minthara's strong will acted as an anchor for Dakini to hold her wrath in check and spare Fae'run for what could be (due to absolute's influence) and use it instead to fuel MInthara's ambition towards the Underdark.

Picture says more than a thousand words as they say eh, here's one collage I put together.
