jurak, your house is so big & nice. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> & it's getting nicer as u renovate it. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />

i do like those porcelain kitties on the BEFORE pix. if only the collection is vast enough, it would be nicer still.

anyway, u can't do wrong with greens in the house. however i feel the greens are a bit too big for the space u have. unless u're puny like me, u don't want the plants to get in the way whenever u need to move around.

& what's with that plant by the window? why does it need electricity? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

as for the plants by the fireplace, i hope u won't roast them. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" /> that is unless u like fried vegetables. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/silly.gif" alt="" />

i don't know if it's just the pix, or it's your living room a bit too dark for the wee potted plants on that *i don't know how u call that* just above the fire place. u may want to do some kind of rotation for those plants. maybe if u have 4 or 5 more of the same, u can rotate them each fortnight so that they'll have enough sun & look healthy for your living room.

--------week:---1 & 2------3 & 4
group A plants: outside----inside

group B plants: inside-----outside

just a suggestion. u might want to do the same for the other potted plants in case they look pale due to lack of sunlight.

& that chair looks so ....... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

Revenge of the old-building-by-the-river pics <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> This time it's the castle of Durbuy which for some time had a claim to smallest town in the world.

Yeh i know Drag',but this beachside bar gave us very thin glasses and we would have had a couple of sips of the stuff and have to fill the glasses straight away!!
Good news though, the sangria was included in their "Buy one get one free" offer. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

Nice house pics Jurak. I like what you're doing. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I you don't mind my asking, where is it? (I don't mean "what street address and where do you hide the key please?... " but roughly what State, Country or whatever?)

For real masochists who would like to see a whole bunch of house pics, you are all invited to see the saga of building my own house in the West Australian bush.

It's not a public internet site, just something fairly rough that I put up on my private web space to show some old friends and my brothers and other family members (who live in different countries) how we progressed from the ground up. I built a shed first, which we lived in for 2 years while I built the house. This is a record of the project.

There are 10 or 12 pages, each with 3 to 6 photos of the various building stages, plus some of the surrounding views, animal life etc. The photos are mostly around 30 - 70k each, so may take a minute or two to load on a dial up connection.

So come on in. Just don't frighten the wild-life or pinch the cutlery..... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

Holy cow ! Those building pictures kick some serious you-know-what <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" />

Pretty amazing to see this in the prefab / easy-out world, people just going "you know what, I'll build my own house" <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Very cool indeed and looking astonishing ! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />

Thanks for the kind words Plowking. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Oddly enough, I was pretty lousy at woodwork at school, and don’t have any qualifications in the building trade. What you need to build a house is really just to be insanely stubborn and determined, and to be able to doggedly put in a very large amount of hours.

I suppose you do also need a bit of a feel for space and composition, and of course a sense of humour is essential to keep you going. But after seeing your wonderful Dennis the Deathknight movie you clearly have an abundance of all those abilities. So I expect to see you embarking on a project to build "Plowking Towers" in the near future. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

(Oh, and I did also find it essential to have a fantastic wife who not only put up with all the hammering and swearing but who worked throughout and kept us afloat financially. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />)
