After two levels of Paladin multiclass into a Bard. At 3rd Bard lvl (5th character lvl) pick Sword or Valour subclass.
This way you will maximise the number of Holy Smite attacks you can have between Long Rests.
Lay on Hands/Channel Oath is not worth it.
