I've heard about that restaurant in the Colonius (almost *everything* in Cologne - Köln has a particle sounding like "cologne" in it - the people there are *very* proud of their own ! ) the following tale :

Originally, the tower was property of the town Cologne itself.

The Telekom - amlmost monopolist in telecommunication regarding telephone (not mobiles, though) bought it.

The town said that they would only sell it if there was a restaurant in it.

Everything was prepared, but nothing in the papers saidd that they should actually run it ... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/badsmile2.gif" alt="" />

I don't know whether it's true, but it sounds just ... evil to me. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/badsmile2.gif" alt="" />

Examples for "cologne-like names :

Colonius (the tower)
Colonnaden (kind of bazaar)
Eau de Cologne (worldwide known)
etc

When you find a big kettle of crazy, it's best not to stir it.
